Sioux County Families, While we know that people with COVID-19 are most contagious when they are having symptoms, we are also learning that children and young people may be infected with COVID-19 and have no symptoms at all. Because of this, we want to encourage everyone to practice social distancing to help stop the spread of COVID-19. Below are some very practical examples of social distancing we ask all Sioux County families to consider: STAY HOME! Stay home as much as possible If you or a family member has any symptoms of illness, STAY HOME! SHOPPING Go infrequently and consider sending only 1 person to the store DON’T GO to the store if you or anyone in your home has any symptoms of illness AVOID SOCIAL ACTIVITIES FOR A LITTLE LONGER Do not hang out with more than 10 people, as this creates opportunities for spread Limit contact with people who do not live in your home Keep at least 6 feet between you and people from other households Do not gather with friends to play contact sports such as soccer, basketball, football, or baseball - these create opportunities for spread Skate parks and playgrounds are now closed. WHAT CAN I DO? Practice your sport on your own or with your household members in a place where there aren’t lots of people Go for a walk, a run, or a bike ride Do get outside to play or exercise, but keep at least 6 feet between you and people from other households - Enjoy outdoor activities responsibly Continue to “hang out” with your friends virtually – via FaceTime, Zoom, or video chat We need every family and every parent to ensure that our children and young people are practicing social distancing, too. We know social distancing is HARD and it is not fun, but this is our most powerful weapon to fight COVID-19. This virus will continue to spread as long as we give it opportunities to spread. We all have a role to play to help stop the spread of COVID-19. Community Health Partners of Sioux County
